A shaft of metal, typically with a spiralled portion at the cutting end (a twist drill bit), intended to be attached to a motorized handpiece, or other power source, to create a precise round hole at the appropriate depth in teeth or bone of the oral cavity. This hole or slot is used to secure cast or preformed pins/posts for stabilizing and retaining operative dental appliances. This is a reusable device.

A prefabricated endodontic rod designed for insertion into the root canal of a patient to support and retain a crown prosthesis. It is typically a solid, cylindrical, metal (e.g., stainless steel, gold alloy) piece with a proximal end appropriate to support the crown on top; it is, however, available in a variety of shapes, dimensions, and materials (e.g., ceramics, fibre-reinforced polymers). In addition, it is available in a variety of types (e.g., non-threaded, pre-threaded, or self-tapping; straight or tapered). This is a single-use device.

A material(s) primarily intended to be used as a bonding-promoting substance between dentine and a dental composite filling, restorative, or luting material; it may also be used as an enamel bonding material. It includes a resin-based bonding agent and may also include a primer, etching solution or curing activator, within the same formulation, or as part of a set. It is not a primer, etching solution and/or activator sold in the absence of a bonding agent; composite resin is not included. After application, this device cannot be reused.

A non-sterile substance intended for professional use as a dental luting agent, liner, base, pulp-capping material, pit/fissure sealant, and/or direct dental restorative material, whereby the majority of the setting reaction is based on the self-, light-, or dual-cured polymerization of a dimethacrylate resin [e.g., polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA), polyurethane, or bisphenol-A-diglycidylether methacrylate (Bis-GMA)]; it includes some additional fillers/components (e.g., glass-based, quartz, or ceramic). It may be preloaded into a syringe, and dedicated disposable devices associated with application may be included. After application, this device cannot be reused.

A band or strip of strong material (typically a transparent plastic) or a short tube that is used to form a mould around a tooth for the insertion of restorative materials. The device is typically held snugly around the tooth by a matrix retainer. This is a single-use device.
