Fusion Bx 2.0 is designed to display the 2D live video received from commercially available ultrasound machines and use this 2D video to reconstruct a 3D ultrasound image volume. The system is designed to work with clinicians’ existing ultrasound machines, transrectal ultrasound (TRUS) probes, commercially available needles, needle guides/templates and needle gun combination. Additional software features include patient data management, multi-planar reconstruction, segmentation, image measurements and 3D image registration.
Fusion Bx 2.0 offers the physician additional 3D information for assessing prostate abnormalities, planning and implementing biopsy procedures. The additional image processing features are generated with minimal changes to previous TRUS probe-based procedures, and the physician always has access to the live 2D ultrasound image during prostate assessment or biopsy procedure.

The device will assist clinicians in planning and performing image-guided interventional procedures such as biopsies and placing instruments in the prostate for adult men with suspected prostate cancer.
Fusion Bx is comprised of a laptop-based workstation and a hardware assembly. The included hardware consists of a frame grabber, encoder converter, hardware arm (comprising of a swing arm, counterbalance, tracker and stepper), and stand. The stepper holds the ultrasound probe and measures probe position while the physician performs a normal ultrasound imaging procedure of the subject prostate. Encoders in the stepper and tracker send joint movement information to the computer workstation which tracks probe position and orientation. Control of the ultrasound probe and ultrasound system is done manually by the physician, just as it would be in the absence of Fusion Bx. However, by tracking the position and orientation of the ultrasound probe while capturing the video image, the workstation is able to reconstruct and display a 3D image and 3D rendered surface model of the prostate and to display the live image position within the prostate.

The OsiriX MD software is an interactive image display and navigation program that was designed for medical imaging modalities. It supports all types of images generated by variety of imaging equipment and scanners available today. It supports the DICOM standard for image communication as well as a variety of other image formats used in academic and research community.
OsiriX MD will act as a DICOM viewer capable of connecting to a DICOM network. OsiriX MD will be able to connect to various networked PACS, modalities and other DICOM nodes through the DICOM protocol over a TCP/IP network. OsiriX MD will provide manipulation tools for medical images. It also provides the necessary tools to query DICOM nodes, retrieve images from them and send images. OsiriX MD will also permit the efficient storage, and retrieval of medical images for imaging workstations.
OsiriX MD is tailored for large sets of multidimensional and multi-modality images such as combined PET-CT studies that require three dimensional image fusion and volume rendering. The software is developed on MacOS platform. The software was developed in Objective-C in Apple Xcode development environment. In the design of the software a special attention was given to adapt the user interface to navigating through large sets of image data. The graphical user interface also uses the MacOS interface. Users can change and customize the software by adding and removing tools and items from the program toolbar and menu bars. This allows for adapting the software for number of functions and avoiding the users to be overwhelmed by an excessive number of unnecessary tools and functions that are not always needed.

The Orpheus System is a picture archival and communications systems (PACS) that is intended for image capturing, archiving, displaying and recording of audio/video sequences and patient data during a procedure. The system allows for capture and annotation of the surgical procedure for documentation purposes and for viewing at a later time either locally or on a secure distributed network. The captured audio/video sequences can be broadcasted in real time with video-conferencing capability during the broadcast. The Orpheus System is not intended to be used as a primary diagnostic system for mammography and any other radiology application.
